8. What are your industry certifications and licenses?
Industry certifications and licenses we have are:
- Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) License - Businesses need this license to demonstrate that they have the trade skills to perform the scope of work relevant your licence class.
- Asbestos Class B License – Businesses need this licence to operate a business that removes more than 10 squares of non-friable (bonded) asbestos. Non-friable asbestos materials include asbestos cement sheeting, often called fibro, used in many Queensland buildings before 1990.
- Public Liability Insurance - Public liability insurance is an important cover for lots of businesses. It can protect businesses against claims made by clients or the public. It's especially important for clients to know that both businesses and clients are protected with business insurance for if/when things go wrong.
- WorkCover - WorkCover's Accident Insurance Policy covers businesses and its workers if a work-related injury or illness happens. In Queensland, if you employ workers, you must insure them against work-related injury or illness. Unless you're a self-insurer, you need to take out a policy with WorkCover.
- Asbestos Insurance - Individuals and businesses that are licensed and qualified to work with asbestos can readily obtain the types of insurance required to cover clean-up and compensation costs if there's an incident that results in asbestos contamination or exposure.

9. What happens if it rains during roofing installation? What does your team do in such an event to protect the house and semi-installed roofing?
If it rains during the installation of your roof, all care is taken to ensure that your property is kept dry. To minimise the risk of damage:
- We will strip and lay portions of your roof at a time.
- We will tarp your roof if/ where necessary.
- We regularly check the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and will not remove your roof is if there is more than a 40% chance of rain.
10. How long does your typical residential roofing project take?
A typical residential roof replacement takes approximately 3-4 days to complete.
11. What time do you normally start work?
Our team will arrive onsite at 6.15am for a 6.30am start. They will carry out their Toolbox Talk and walk through the Site-Specific Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) via the HazardCo Australia Health & Safety app.
12. What safety precautions do you take when removing asbestos (and what licenses do you hold to do this)?
The safety precautions our team at The Roofing Group take to safely remove asbestos are:
- All our team hold a minimum competency CPCCDE3014A Remove non-friable asbestos certificate.
- Before works commence we prepare an Asbestos Removal Control Plan
- PPE is used during the removal of asbestos including:
o Type 5/6 Coveralls (One size to big)
o Closed in Shoes
o Boot Covers
o P2 Particulate Respirator (Sundstrum SR100)
o Gloves
- Notify asbestos registry of intention to remove asbestos.
- Letter drop to the neighbours on either side of the property and opposite side of the street as per legislation.
- Remove all existing asbestos roof sheeting.
- Safely wrap and seal all asbestos as per regulation.
- Clean and vacuum the roof cavity of all visible asbestos and potential asbestos dust.
- Spray and bond the roof cavity with PVA bonding solution.
- Obtain asbestos clearance certificate of the work area by a Competent person.
- Use a licensed asbestos waste disposal company.
13. Do clients need to be home or do they need to stay away while you’re at work?
When works are being carried out it is up to the client if they would like to be home for the duration. There is no need for the client to leave their property however if they will be moving around the property, we will include the client in the SWMS as a safety precaution as it will be an active job site.
14. Does the roofing warranty stay with the house or move with the owners?
The roofing warranty will stay with the house provided no modifications are taken out on the completed works / home.
